Hi, I'm Amanda – designer, potter, and the person behind Acorn Studio.
I started Acorn Studio because I want to help creative businesses to show off their work beautifully.
I'm a potter myself, so I know what it's like to pour everything into making something you love, and then run out of time and energy to market your products online.
Where I come from
I've spent 20 years working as a journalist and content marketing professional, including a decade at Houzz, one of the world's leading design platforms, writing about interior design and working with the visual world every day.
My background has given me a trained eye for design that works, and the ability to tell a story. When I build your website or create your brand, I'm not just making something that looks nice. I'm thinking about how it communicates, what it says about you, and whether it'll make the right person stop and pay attention.
Why small creatives
I want to champion small businesses and give them the same quality of design as the bigger brands, without the big agency price tag, the six-month timeline, or the feeling that the project is too small to matter.
Your project is never too small, and in fact, it's exactly what I'm here for.
I work with one client at a time, for one focused week. That means when it's your week, you have my complete attention, and you walk away with something that genuinely reflects the care and craft you put into your own work.
A few things about me
I'm based in south London. When I'm not designing, you'll find me at my wheel. I'm endlessly interested in how things are made, why some things are beautiful, and how good design can change the way people feel about a business.
